Lenore H. Litman, 83, born July 30, 1930, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Sunrise of Hillcrest in Dallas. Lenore was born in Chicago, Ill., to Bertha and Bernard Bitterman, and had a wonderful childhood growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, being spoiled by all of her beloved aunts and uncles. She and her family moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1972. Lenore was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her children and grandchildren were the most important part of her life. Being a mother and grandmother were what made her the happiest. She loved to travel, keep in touch with the friends she made throughout her travels, and was known for her baking, (especially her brownies and her “red cake”), daily yoga/exercise, (no matter where she was visiting) and above all, her sweet and positive disposition. Her children and grandchildren heard more times than not, “your mother/grandmother is SO sweet”.
Despite her petite stature, Lenore had an incredible strong will which allowed her to conquer life’s challenges. Her eyes were bright and she was smiling up to the end. Lenore will be missed by the many people she encountered over the years.
She was preceded in death by husbands Allen Drew and Stanley Litman. She is survived by children Joel Litman and daughter-in-law, Susie, of Dallas; Alana Litman of Prairie Village, KS; Craig Litman of Dallas; Mark Litman and daughter-in-law, Sandy of Huntington Beach, CA; former daughter-in-law Renee Litman of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren Hillary Litman; Carly Litman; Laken Litman, Taylor Litman; Jamie Janisse and husband Brian, and Sam Litman; brother and sister-in-law Alan and Marilyn Bitterman; sister-in-law Marilyn Mendelson; cousin Loretta Levine; nephews and nieces Stuart and Cassandra Bitterman Leslie Bitterman and Tom Abbott; Steve and April Litman, Brian Litman; Drew and Susan Mendelson; Bruce and Janice Mendelson; and Scott and Melissa Mendelson.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sunrise of Hillcrest in Dallas and the Vitas hospice staff for all of their attention, love, and care given to Lenore the last months of her life.
