She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Jeff Kohr. She leaves behind a 27 year old daughter, Christen Tumey, a 21 year old son, Tony “AJ” Plant and his wife Kasie and their 11 month old son, Colten Plant. She also leaves behind her parents, Charles E. Stringer, Jr. and Karen Stovall Stringer of Combine, Texas. She also leaves behind a brother, Charles W. Stringer and his wife Annette and their son Ethan. She is also survived by her close friends Nick and Jessica Stringer (Seagoville).
Lea was preceded in death by her grandparents, T. J. and Theta Stovall (Mesquite) and Charles E. Stringer Sr. and Lorraine Stringer (Dallas) and Charles W. Stringer’s infant son Cody Stringer. She leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, cousins
Lea attended public schools in both Dallas and Crandall, Texas and after giving birth to her daughter in 1984, completed her GED. She spent a good deal of her early childhood caring for stray cats in the neighborhood. Later in life, she spent much of her time with her husband and four cats and the greatest love of her life, her grandson, affectionately called “Pooky Bear”. When Lea wasn’t pursuing time with her grandson, she was a part time office assistant and home maker. She also shared a passion for old cars with her dad, her husband and son AJ. She loved family and especially family gatherings during the holidays. She was always in the center of planning these events and couldn’t wait for the next holiday to occur.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Grove Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
