As a young child, he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas with his family.
He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Larry accepted Christ at a young age.
After receiving his formal education, Larry enlisted into the United States Navy on June 17, 1968. Upon completion of his military service, he worked at the State Department of Public Welfare. In 1973, he began his career at Southwestern Bell until he retired.
Larry was a member of Vern’s Place Pool Club and received multiple trophies for dominoes and pool. He truly loved his children and his grandchildren adored him.
He enjoyed barbequing for his family and was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Robert McClanahan, stepfather Herman Beard, and brother Robert Lee Jackson.
Those left to cherish his memory include: His mother, Ruth Beard. His Siblings, Troy Lee McClanahan, Shirley Marie Martin, Marilyn Sue Braxton, and Michael Wayne McClanahan. His children, Keiland McClanahan, Jerome McClanahan, Somer Smith, and Cassandra Wilson. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
Larry will continue to live in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
