Larry James Marroy entered into eternal life September 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, after a brief illness. He was born in Klotzville, Louisiana on June 21, 1939, the son of Jean Philip Marroy and Louanna Daigle Marroy. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and LSU Medical School in New Orleans.
He served his country with honor and pride in the U.S. Navy, and retired as a Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, after 8 years of active duty. He was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Da Nang, Vietnam, where he treated hundreds of US military and Allied casualties.
He completed his anesthesiology residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He then established his career in New Orleans and founded the obstetric anesthesia department at Southern Baptist Hospital. In 1988, he and his family moved to Dallas, where he practiced anesthesiology at Presbyterian Hospital and other facilities across the metroplex.
He considered his greatest joy to be his 52-year marriage to Beverly. He cherished the blessings of his three daughters, their spouses, and eleven grandchildren. He found immense happiness in his family, his Catholic faith, and his country, as well as in travels with Beverly. He and Beverly were lifelong lovers of classical music, good food, and fine wine. In retirement, he developed a passion for fishing and hunting, and spent many happy hours at the Talley Ranch.
Dr. Marroy is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughters Monica Marroy Blando and her husband Chad, Angela Marroy Boerger and her husband Timothy, and Virginia Marroy Talley and her husband Mark; his eleven grandchildren Michael, Madeleine, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Margaret, and Peter Blando; Sophie and Thaddaeus Boerger; and Carter, Nolan, and Preston Talley. He is also survived by his sister Betty Crochet and his brother Jerry Marroy, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15 from 4:30 to 6:30pm; Rosary at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, September 16 at 10:30am. There will be a reception following Mass in the Parish Center. Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 2pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Christ the King Catholic Church or to the charity of your choice.
