Kenneth Michael Reed

Kenneth received his education from Booker T. Washington High School. While pursuing his studies, he was an active member on the football team as well as a dominating force in track and field. After graduation Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for several years. On October 6,1961, Kenneth wed his long time sweetheart, Gloria Whitmire, a union that lasted until her death on May 6,2014. From their blessed union, four children were born; Robin, Regina, Carol and Ronda. He loved and honored God and cherished his family. He was always hard working, loving and a devoted husband and father who stressed the importance of having good character, morals and values. He believed in being a honest, dependable and trustworthy person as well as one who always stood by their word. He often said that sometimes in life, all a person has is their word.

Upon his return home from the Navy, Kenneth worked on various jobs after which he became employed with the United States Postal Service where he worked for many years until his retirement. He later furthered his studies at Mountain View College. Kenneth was also a Masonic Lodge Member.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Gloria Reed; daughter, Regina Daniels; father, Henry Reed; two brothers, Henry Reed, Jr. and Bobby Reed; sister, Elaine Reed.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories, children: Robin Carroll, Carol Reed and Ronda Reed-Wingfield (James); grandchildren: Nathaniel Reed, Nicholas Carroll and Zora Wingfield; great grandson: Ace Reed; mother: Opal Reed; brother; David Reed; sister: Lucretia Douglas; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
