Kenneth Wayne Hagler, AKA "Kenny Wayne," age 75, of Irving, TX. Passed away on August 23, 2021. He was born October 6, 1945, in Redwater, TX, to Bennie Corene and E.K. Hagler. He was the Owner of Candy Records label and Sweet Tooth Music production. Kenny was way ahead of his time when it came to the music scene. He was a heck of a musician, and he loved to pick on his guitar and blow that blues harmonica. He had numerous albums, including Kenny Wayne and the Kamotions in Motion, Kenny Wayne, Borned with the Blues and Raised on Rock and Roll, with his last album, Rockin’ Little Redwater Boy. Kenny was one of a kind and was proud to say that he was different. He could put on a great show while on stage. Kenny loved to collect records, and bang away on his 1967 paisley pink Stratocaster dubbed "Pepto." He wrote, recorded, and performed music. He liked good old jack "Black" Daniels' whiskey while chasing big-chested young women whose character is a little on the trashy side, as he would say. Kenny was a character, and did not care what people thought of him.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era; his three call-ups for action were deactivated, sparing him the vicissitudes of combat until his honorable discharge in 1968.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 43 years: Joyce Hart; four children: Candy Hagler, Holli Sherman and husband Brad, Elvis Hagler, and Fabian Hagler. Seven grandchildren: Jesse Adam Silva, Kelsie Brandon and husband Brian, Alissa Flanagan and husband Hunter, Tyler Hulsey, Zachary Sherman, Luke Sherman, and Levi Sherman; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Old Union Cemetery in Simms, TX, under the direction of Singing Hills Funeral Home.
