Kay was a member of Redeemer Bible Church. She was a prayer warrior, involved in a prayer chain ministry and she was instrumental in setting up the prayer chapel at her former Methodist church. Kay enjoyed fellowship, she played cards and games and daily, she spent time in God's word. If she knew you, your name probably would be found in one of her prayer journals. That was how she started her days. She was never too busy to come alongside, encourage and support others.
Mom had a fun, competitive side when it came to playing cards and games. She would win in a wink of an eye and be "dressed to the nines", as well. And what a "poker face."
Mom was devoted to her family and cherished each moment spent with them. She had a knack for turning an ordinary situation into an extra ordinary event. There was the time she pumped gas and ended up bringing the entire pump hose home! Another time, mom parked her car on a hill, leaving it in "neutral" and the neighbors received a new car delivered in their backyard. Life with mom was never boring and it is memories like these that leave smiles in our hearts.
Kay did say that all good, lovely or effective works that come from her life were the result of Christ's work in her for His good to His creation - not of her, of Him. She reminded her children "Pretty is as pretty does." "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." "Is that how you want people to treat you?" "Think about how you would feel if that happened to you."
Her family is thankful for her role-model and desire to fulfill God's will for our lives. Mom was the whole package.....a Proverbs 31 kind of lady. "Well done, Kay, and welcome home."
