Juan was born into a loving family with six siblings, Julian Hernandez (deceased) of Beeville, TX, Raul Hernandez of San Antonio, TX, Maria Villanueva (deceased) of Seguin, TX, Alicia Carrillo (deceased) of Seguin, TX, Ester Rios of Fort Worth, TX and Mary Davila of Grand Prairie, TX.
Juan was a veteran of the United States Army Air-force who proudly served his country during World War II. He married his beloved wife, Nicolasa (Cora) Gonzalez on July 24, 1948 and was married for 64 years, until her passing.
Until his retirement, Juan worked for Dahlstrom Corporation where he played a pivotal role in building major construction projects in Texas, including the Galveston Sea Wall, D/FW Turnpike and Loop 635 around Dallas.
Juan, exemplified love, compassion and commitment to family when he willingly accepted the role of primary caregiver for his wife Cora, during her long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He later found happiness again with his friend and companion Graciela Robalino.
Juan was known for his love of great cars, including a candy apple red 1957 Chevrolet and a gold 1966 Impala Super Sport, but his ultimate treasure was his family. Juan is survived by his children, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Rosa Melgoza and her husband Daniel, Ruben Hernandez and his wife Rosanna, and Dorelia Renteria and her husband Garry. He has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
