He attended high school at Sunset High School where he also graduated at the top 10% of his class. There he met his high school sweetheart who soon became his wife on October 24, 1989. Where now would have been 31 years of marriage .
Joe loved his hobbies which included fishing, boating, backyard barbecues and most of all his Dallas Cowboys. Joe also loved playing his drums with his band, who he said one day he will get to play before a live crowd, which he was able to accomplish.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary Mendez-Velazquez and two beautiful children, daughter Liberty Ann Justice Velazquez and son Jose Mason Gage Velazquez III. He is also survived by his mother Evangelina Velazquez and sisters Idalia Vasquez, Geneva Davila and Arlinda Martinez, and many friends and family members.
