I remember going with Geary to Kiest Park to watch the fast pitch softball games and the late night visits to Kips Restaurant with the Oak Cliff boys.  I will always treasure these moments. My heart and my prayers go out to Geary's family.

Geary had a way to make me feel like part of his clan. He would say how proud he was of me for having such a nice family, or that he was so happy for me going to law school. I remember him telling me, "it's great to see one of us succeed in life." He said it in such a way that it made me feel like he was proud that one of his own had made it. Thank you for making me feel special. Grandpa, as we call him, while silly at times, he was very genuine. He cared about my family and always asked about them. Thank you for treating my girls as one your own.

I will remember how Geary would make me fill good about life, with a crazy joke, stories about his travels, family and friends. When I lost my wife he would say "I was adjusting well, I'm doing a good job and that Tina would be very proud of me." He would always give me good words of encouragement.

Although I missed seeing Uncle Geary the last time he came out to Australia, and I was only young when meeting him on our family trip to the US, I will always remember the immense brightness he brought to us through his joy and humour. Meeting his talking car and experiencing his jokes made our trip to Texas very memorable! When I last saw Will, we spent hours talking about Uncle Geary’s quirks of eating raw hamburger meat (a shared oddity with my grandmother, Donna) and his love of peanut butter! 

Unfortunately, being half a world away meant that we didn’t get to spend much time together but Uncle Geary will definitely be missed and will always be close to our hearts. In loving memory, may you rest in the eternal grace of our God.

As a nephew of Laura Sue (Long) McEvoy I came to know Geary during the years he and Aunt Laura Sue were dating. Not being from Dallas natively like my mother (sister to Aunt Laura Sue) our summer vacations were spent in Dallas with our grandparents and countless cousins. I believe each of the Aunt and Uncles were directed by Grandmother to help entertain us as often as they could. Geary took it upon himself to tend to me and my brothers Tim and Rick. That time together was spent tooling around in his VW, playing ball at Dan D. Rogers elementary baseball diamonds, shagging foul balls at VFW baseball games as Uncle Geary kept score and putt-putt in Oak Cliff, I believe.
For me, those visits continued beyond my high school years. While in college I had decided to move to Dallas, WITHOUT WORK! I made a call to Uncle Geary to hopefully hook-up with Texpak. And, so my life in Dallas began. While I did not land the job I had targeted, that in itself was a blessing in disguise. I would not have ended up where I am today. With that fate and the help of Uncle Geary to make the move, my last 40 years, while all still here in Dallas, would not have been what it is today. Thank you, Uncle Geary. My family and I are indebted to you! I just cannot thank you enough!

I"m the 7th of Geary and Donna's nine Chicago cousins. When we were young they would visit us each summer. We had great fun together: Lake Michigan swimming, trips to the zoo, endless games on our front porch, and LOTS of baseball. I particularly remember the unfortunate summer Geary brought his trumpet along!
When I attended high school in San Antonio, I was able  to visit in Dallas for the Easter holiday. Good memories of some adventurous rides, Geary at the wheel in Donna's (orange) Renault, and more baseball.
Sweet memories of our times together.
Rest in Peace, cuz. God Bless your family.

Uncle Geary always loved reminding me of the first time I walked on the driveway in our Dallas home. He was always telling me how proud he was of me and my achievements and said that although he was so far away, he would always be close to me  in my heart. I am so very happy that he got to meet my children and spend time with us. I'll always treasure the time he was here in Australia. He will be greatly missed for his corny jokes and his loving nature. Rest in peace Uncle Geary. xoxo

Geary, along with his entire family, was a very good friend to us all through the St. Bernard and Bishop Lynch years with our kids being best friends!  We shared many ball games, church services, including mid night mass with breakfast afterwards, weddings, welcoming grandchildren and more fun times with them.
The most prominent thing I remember is how Geary and Mark could keep the corny grandpa jokes coming all night long and could play off each other with the punch lines and think they were so funny together.  They would laugh and laugh at their own jokes.
The special thing about the McEvoy family is their devotion to each other.
You will be missed dear friend, rest in peace.

Kay and I enjoyed revisiting an old video that Geary produced for a mini vacation we took in 1989. We toured Austin, San Antonio, Lueckenbach and other places. We had a great time and Geary’s running narrative of the trip was unforgettable. 
He had a real talent for videos and we have others that we will revisit this week. 
RIP Geary!!  You will be greatly missed !!

Geary was one of my bosses at BRIGHT but he was also a friend.  He will be missed.  RIP old man.

Geary was my little brother.   We always had such great times together.     As children he loved to tease and play jokes on me, because I always reacted, either with tears or telling Mother.   As we grew older we could talk about our lives and in recent years we talked about our grandchildren.   He was so proud of all of them.    Geary will be missed by all who knew him.

Grumpy was always someone that wanted to hear all about your life. I enjoyed sharing stories with him. He also enjoyed telling corny jokes our family jokes that he graduated from the corny joke college😂 My favorite memories come from taking him out to lunch and dinner and talking. He was always my biggest fan no matter what. The picture I have attached is one of my favorite memories and one of the few times where I got to take just grandma and grumpy our to dinner during freshman year of college, which was one of the hardest years of my life. Heaven gained an angel. Love you forever Grumpy. 

I am so sorry to hear of Geary’s passing. I have known him and Laura for many many years. They were both so kind to me during my time living in Dallas. I have many wonderful memories. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My grandpa was someone you could always trust to make you laugh. I was a big fan of his corny jokes, and I will miss being able to tell him all my stories. Saddened by the fact I won’t get to tell anymore about my Social Work career to him, but I know he will see everything from up in heaven! Love you Grandpa, and you will he missed greatly! 

(Uncle) Geary kept score for legion baseball games and every year that the Born’s visited Texas, he would take me along to chase the foul balls. I love baseball and he gave me an avenue to enjoy it while on vacation. 

Dad, grandpa, grumpy, Geary, uncle, brother, friend whatever “my dad” was to you. Please share a memory I know we will treasure it!
