Joanne grew up in Redwood City, California and graduated from Sequoia High School. Prior to marrying and having her first child, she was a freelance model and beauty pageant participant. She was an administrative assistant for many years at the Stewart Company in Dallas, prior to opening the Small Miracles Child Care with her daughter Stephanie. She was a charter member of Stonebridge United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and all her friends there.
Joanne loved traveling, classical music, art and especially gardening. She passed along this love of gardening to all her daughters, as her mom had passed it on to her. Even with recent health struggles, she continued to take care of her garden.
Joanne was born on November 4, 1935 in Oakland, California, a daughter of her father: Loren Brown and her mother: Della Martha Deacon.
She is survived by her children: Debra Wallace and husband Jerry, Laura McKenzie, Paul Messick, Stephanie Wells and husband Jimmy, David Clampitt and Suzanne Harrison and husband Keith; sisters Margaret George (Marge), Cheryl Vincent and husband Curtis, ten grandchildren: Autumn, April, Ashlie, Christina, JD, Stephanie, Victoria, Hope, Adam, Grayson, and ten great grandchildren: Kendal, Zach, Jordan, Zayden, Gaige, Tucker, Ryder, Lucy, Landry and James.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Peter Messick and oldest daughter Catherine.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Stonebridge United Methodist Church located at 1800 South Stonebridge Drive, McKinney Texas 75072.
There will be a reception to follow.
