Jewel Wilson

Jewel "Julie" (Gordon) Wilson was born to John and Jewel Gordon in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 16, 1928. The Gordon family moved to Dallas when she was three years old, and Jewel considered Dallas her home for the rest of her life. In November of 2017, she moved to Austin to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. However, after only a year, Jewel returned to Dallas because, for her, Dallas was home. Jewel attended North Dallas High School and then Baylor University where she was an Alpha Omega. On March 26, 1948, she married William "Bill" J. Wilson and proudly remained his loving wife for 60 years until his death in 2008. Bill and Julie had three children: Ronald "Ronnie" Gordon, Gregory Bruce, and Shannon Elizabeth; five grandsons: William Howard Wilson, Ronald Gordon Wilson Jr., Michael Gordon McKinley, Kevin Jackson McKinley, and Brandon Douglas McKinley; and ten great-grandchildren.

Julie enjoyed living her later years at The Tradition on Prestonwood with several of her old friends while also meeting some new friends. Recently she moved to an assisted living facility where her caregivers truly loved and adored her. She died August 11, 2023, after a short bout with pneumonia. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wilson, and her eldest son, Ronald "Ronnie" Wilson. There will be a small graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Sparkman Hillcrest.
