Jesse Wayne Morris died in his sleep at home on June 10, 2014. He was born on May 12 1939 to Lena Lillian Mitchell and DeWitt Tallmadge Morris in Kaufman County Texas. Wayne went to Scurry-Rosser school. He attended Kansas State University. In July 1956 he enlisted in the US Army. After 21 years he retired from the Army Engineer Corps as a Chief Warrant Officer, CW3. He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for his tours of duty in Viet Nam. In Thailand, he helped finish The Freedom Road depicted in the movie “The Ugly American”. After his military service he and the family settled in Dallas Where he worked 10 years as Safety Director for Austin Paving Company, and then worked 14 years as Risk and Safety Manager for DFW International Airport Board. He had a cattle business until 2012. Wayne was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Wayne is survived by Sandra Lester Morris, his wife of 54 years, Jeffrey Morris, son, Alan Graziadei, grandson, Felicia Fogg, granddaughter, Edith Robinson, sister, Mike Morris and Gerald Morris, brothers plus numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Brenda Fogg, daughter, Willie Carruthers, sister and several brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15th from 2 to 5 pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday June 16th at 10 am in the Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Thomas Wilbanks and Dallas Masonic Lodge. Interment will be1:15 pm at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
