Jerry C Mahan

Jerry Mahan was born in the middle of the “real depression” in Santa Monica California on August 28, 1932 to Elouise Pierce Mahan and “Dutch” Harold Don Mahan. His parents were professional musicians who hocked their wedding rings, every Friday, so as to buy milk for this baby, collecting their jewelry every Monday morning after being paid. Now you know why he was always cautious with finances.

From age of 6 months, Jerry grew up in Houston, graduating from Regan Jr High School and Stephen F Austin High School. He married the only love of his life, Betty Monday, after graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in engineering.

Jerry was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity & served in the US Army Corp of Engineers for two years. He spent most of his professional life in the field of construction, owning several “lightweight aggregate plants in Arkansas. After selling the Concrete Block Plants Jerry joined Columbia Machine, of Van Couver Washington and served almost 20 years as a sales representative. He retired officially from Columbia Machine in 2004. Family was his greatest pride, Daughter Terry Mahan Piper and son Jerry C Mahan Jr called “Dutch” the name his paternal grandfather was known by.

Jerry will be remembered for being an extremely honest individual. A tiny white lie was as much a sin as a big whopping lie. If you say you will do something you have the moral obligation to DO IT!! He was strict, tough, exasperating and sometimes intimidating, but he was ALWAYS A MAN OF MORAL CHARACTER.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Mahan, daughter, Terry Mahan Piper, son, Dutch Mahan, grandson Brandon Scott Piper (fiancé Chelsea Dawn Bassham), granddaughter Jennifer Michelle Allen and great grandchildren Kali, Tanner, Taylor and Brooklyn Allen.
