Janet “Nicole” Moore Gillard was born May 6, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska to the parents of Parker Moore and Alberta Toney-Brown. The Lord called Nicole from earth to glory on the afternoon of September 18, 2017. Nicole graduated from Bryan Senior High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1994. From even at an early age, Nicole has never been a stranger to good, strong work ethics and the civility of being a strong woman to support any endeavor she put her mind to. She worked tirelessly in an effort to support her “little chocolate,” Britnee Scaife (Gillard) who was born February 8, 1995 in Omaha. The unique bond between Nicole and Britnee was unbreakable. Nicole was capable of doing any job or task she put her mind to, and was bound and determined to get it done with flawless execution, many times proving the naysayers wrong. This perseverance was ever more present as Nicole understood the value of education, and the impact that it would have on Britnee. Nicole attended Bellevue University (Omaha) and graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice in 2000. Desiring a better quality of life for herself and daughter, Nicole packed her belongings and made her journey to Dallas, TX in 2002. Because of her marketability and attention to detail, Nicole quickly settled in and went to work supporting her new endeavors and child. It was in Dallas where Nicole met the love of her life, Channing Gillard, wherein they lovingly were wed on March 4, 2006. Channing was the love of her life because he not only honored Nicole, but accepted Britnee as a child of his own. Shortly after getting married, Nicole and Channing had girl number two, Breya Gillard on July 25, 2006, whom she so adored as her “Breya-Leah.” The following year in 2007, Nicole joined the Wells Fargo Bank family in an industry and job capacity that she dreamed of as a child. Nicole served as a Branch Manager for Wells Fargo for 10 years, where she worked passionately alongside friends and colleagues who have now become like family. Nicole and Channing always said they didn’t know how and where their third bundle of joy came from, but God saw fit that on October 25, 2010, to bring the birth of girl number three, Bailey Gillard, whom she referred to as “LeLe.”. This is when Nicole began to coin the term “My 3 Girlz.” Nicole loved her family dearly, but she also loved the Lord who loved her best. At an early age, Nicole obeyed the gospel and was baptized at Fort Street Church of Christ in Omaha, Nebraska. She daily continued her love for Christ being an integral and active member of the Cliff View Church of Christ, where she coordinated/organized programs, and worked alongside her husband in the youth ministry. Most of all, Nicole enjoyed good gospel singing. In August of 2015, Nicole, along with her family, started a new journey in their life. Breast cancer paused her, but Didn’t Stop Her! Nicole fought a most courageous, persevering, strong battle for two years with the disease, but never lost her sight on the Lord. Though she succumbed to the disease on September 18, 2017, Nicole would want to advocate and encourage women of all ages, colors, and backgrounds to regularly get a mammogram. Nicole leaves to cherish her husband, Channing Gillard and daughters Britnee Scaife (Gillard), Breya Gillard, and Bailey Gillard; father, Parker Moore (Dana) of Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Alberta Toney-Brown of Bastrop, Louisiana; brothers, Kerry Toney, Sr. (Joyce) of Euless, Texas and Jasper Brown (Debra) of Euless, Texas; sister, Patrice Smith (Felix) of Bastrop, Louisiana; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
