James Lee Oliver was born on February 1, 1931 in Franklin, TX to the late James Oliver Sr. and Alberta Mantooth. He departed this life on September 10, 2014 at the Atrium at Bellmead in Waco, TX. James confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of the True Light Baptist Church in Franklin, TX. He graduated from Blackshear High School in Hearne, TX in 1950. Upon graduation he joined his father, James Sr. in construction work. Soon after, he met Gloria Miles. After marriage he went into the US Army, served in Fairbanks, Alaska from January 26, 1952 to October 12, 1954. After returning home, he attended Dallas Vocational Training in Dallas, TX. James worked for Collins Radio, Love Field Airport in Dallas, Executive Airport in Dallas and retired form Chrysler Technologies Airborn Systems in Waco, TX. James was Chairman of The West Irving Improvement Association in 1966 and was also a member of the Ben Washington Baptist Church in Irving, TX. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Oliver Sr. and Alberta Mantooth; sisters: Addie Hoosier, Earseal Moore, Eloise Coleman; brother, Travis Oliver and grandson, Jamie Oliver. James dedicated his life to his children and family, those left to cherish his memory are his children: Patrice Oliver Foster, Darren Oliver, James Dionne Oliver (DeLisa); 4 grandchildren: Adrian Collins, Kristen Sanchez, Aria Brock, Darren Quincy Oliver; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Leon Oliver; sisters: Mamie Wade and Maria Walton, and countless nieces and nephews.
