Jim was born on April 27, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Richard T. and Golda Marie (Petty) Elias. He married his "Dolly", Marlene Frechman, on November 9, 1957 at All Souls Catholic Church in Overland, Missouri.
In 1964, Jim and Marlene moved to Dallas to expand his father's textile business, where they made their home for over 50 years.
Over the decades, Jim has been an involved member of the St. Rita Catholic community, serving the Lord in various capacities as an usher and a welcoming spirit to anyone he met. Jim worked tirelessly to send his children to receive private educations at St. Rita, Ursuline and Jesuit, providing them a strong education and a grounding in faith.
In his free time, you could find Jim on the hunting lease with his dogs, on the lake with his sons or in the Texas heat at his grandkids sporting events.
Jim will be fondly remembered by his wife and best friend Marlene; his four children: James T. (Robin) Elias of Highland Village, Texas, Michael F. (Christine) Elias of Dallas, Karen (David) Ray of Dallas, and Greg J. (Cristelle) of Dallas; his eleven grandchildren: Stephanie, Annie, Ryan, Averi, Eli, Jacquelyn, Madeline, Abby, Emily, Jennifer, and Julia; and his one great grandson: Jaiden.
Despite such a large family, Jim had a talent to make whomever was with him at the time feel like they were his favorite.
His heartfelt attention made you feel like you were the only thing that mattered.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church.
The rosary will be recited at 11:30 AM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Jim on Tuesday, May 29, at 12 noon, all at St. Rita's Catholic Church.
Jim no longer is having "the same ole soup warmed over" and is rather now sharing bouillabaisse in Paradise.
Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas has charge of arrangements.
