Innocencia was raised in Dallas, Texas. She married Johnny R. Melgoza in 1950 and the couple had seven children. She was a homemaker and worked at the Texas State Fair for many years.
In her spare time, Innocencia enjoyed going to church, crocheting, and reading. She always loved going to Bunnie's holiday parties and Sunday lunches. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving mother and grandmother, who loved to cook and bake. Her nieces and nephews called her "Aunt Chencha" and she loved and adored each of them.
She is preceded in death by Eulalia Colunga; Johnny Melgoza; David Melgoza; and her beloved sweetheart of many years, Manuel Contreras.
She is survived by her children, Iris and (Kreigh) Valkenaar, Melanie and (Louis) Flores, Michael and (Rebecca) Melgoza, Marty and (Maria) Melgoza and Terri Contreras; grandchildren, Robert and Rachel Flores and family; Ricky Looney and Lacy Hill and family, Christina Flores and family, Kim Melgoza, Gabriela Melgoza, Jason Branum, Jonathan Dalby; along with numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her.
