Howard Lee Crow, Jr., born August 17, 1931, died June 2, 2011. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and loyal friend. Survived by his children and their spouses; Richard and Jill Crow, Diane Crow, Michael Crow, Kathleen and Steve Jennings and his grandchildren, Carson and Katelyn Crow, Katie Lee, Will and Abbey Jennings, and his loving friend and companion Dolly Martin. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was raised in the Methodist faith and converted to Catholicism with the guidance of Jesus Christ when he was 64 years old (although he still maintained that the old Methodist hymns are the best and loudest). He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Marietta Crow and their 4th child Mary Crow. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas and moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University. He graduated from SMU in 1953 and was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He maintained long term friendships with many fraternity brothers. Howard had a very successful career in the mortgage banking business with Equitable Life, Hinton Mortgage and Huie Properties; he then operated his own investment business until his death. He married Marietta Flynn on June 15, 1957. They shared a wonderful and loving marriage until her death in 2007. He thought life would never be sweet again until he met Dolly Martin, who brought much joy to his life. His passions included traveling with a special fondness for cruising, fine dining and sports of any kind. He will be remembered for his deep love for family and his commitment and loyalty to many friends. He was the definition of class. He lived a full life and will be greatly missed by many. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 6th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road by Reverend Monsignor Donald F. Zimmerman, celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 5th at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Baylor Health Care System Foundation, Pulmonary Fund, 3600 Gaston Ave., Dallas, Tx. 75246.
