Henry A. Miller, age 94, entered into eternal rest on October 3, 2020. Born May 26, 1926 in Megargel, Texas to Jerry R. and Lillie A. (Cernosek) Miller. In 1955 he moved to Dallas. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather.
Preceded in death in 2016 by his beloved wife Pauline (married for 59 years), and son, Henry A. Miller, Jr. in 2002. Also gone before him were his brothers Jerry F. Miller and Richard Miller (and wife Clara), and sister Agnes Gentry.
Survived by son Steve Miller, daughter Tricia (Miller) Foster, granddaughter Melissa McGaughey and her husband Matt, grandsons Greg Foster and Daniel Foster, great granddaughter Madison McGaughey, sister Helen Shaffer and numerous other relatives.
He served his country with honor and pride in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, a life member of Audie L. Murphy Memorial VFW Post 1837 where he served as Quartermaster for several years, and VFW Post 6796. Henry was a life member of Knights of Columbus #799. He retired from Keebler Company after 27 years of service.
He enjoyed slow pitch men's softball, polka dancing, watching the Texas Ranger baseball games on TV, fishing and playing golf. He even made two hole-in-ones. February 10, 1988, Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Hole #6 Lake Course, 163 yards. May 7,2002, Ennis Country Club, Hole #6.
Over the years, he spoke with his cousin, Gene Havran, at least once a week. Eugene was the Best Man in Henry's wedding. Even in his nineties, Henry also kept in touch with his Navy buddy, Stan Parda in Massachusetts. Henry had strong faith in God and always knelt by his bed to say his nightly prayers.
Pallbearers are Greg Foster, Daniel Foster, Bernie Miller, Jess Miller, Kirk Shaffer and Eric Shaffer. Honorary Pallbearers are Matt McGaughey and Mark Shaffer.
Services are entrusted with Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Dallas.
