He was born in Gilmer, Texas on November 10, 1942 to Gordon Oliver and Opal McCann Dodson Sr. After graduating with a Masters Degree from the University of North Texas where he was a Theta Chi, he attended the University of Arkansas where he received a PHD. He taught at several universities before becoming the Vice president of East Texas State University in Texarkana, Texas. While there he met the love of his life, Connie. He left the field of education to pursue other interests and soon found his calling in sales as a Business Consultant with the Alexander Proudfoot Company where he later became a partner. He remained in the consulting industry until his retirement. Although he achieved recognition as a top producing business consultant salesman, his greatest sense of pride and accomplishment came from being a caring husband, father, and family member. Gordon was a generous and caring man, known for his charismatic personality and his zest for life. He received great joy from helping those less fortunate.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Connie Dodson of Dallas, Texas; son Jim Dodson and his wife Marianne of Oslo, Norway; son Grant Dodson and his wife Caitlin of San Antonio, TX; daughter Natalie Dodson of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Lukas, Laura, Leander, and Paige Dodson; sisters Elaine Dodson-Roth and Janis Miles; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his “brothers” of Theta Chi.
