Georgia Haines was born in Linden Texas on February 22, 1920, to parents; Taylor David Snead and Laura Myrtle Tankersly. She passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 in Arlington, Texas at Heritage Oaks Nursing Facility, her home for the last six years. She was loved there and it was her "second" family. Georgia left this earth to be with her Lord and reunited with her husband of 68 years, Wilbur Haines. She was 101 years young. She died of natural causes.
Georgia retired from the Dallas Independent School District where she was the Principal's Secretary at Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas. Never one to sit still she worked at the DMV, the Irving Library, and was a Crossing Guard at an elementary school after she retired. She loved working in her yard, growing flowers and some great vegetable gardens over the years. Into her 80's she was walking four miles a day with her neighbor. She loved to bake and had a love of sweets up until the end. She ate "Twinkies" every single day when she couldn't bake anymore.
She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star. She loved country music, especially Hank Williams. She was a member of Oakview Baptist Church.
Georgia leaves behind a daughter, Linda Hastings, and son-in-law, Sammy Hastings of Irving, Texas. A son, Wilbur Haines, Jr. of Grandberry, Texas. Two grandchildren and spouses, Robert Witherspoon and Danny Linn of Lewisville, Texas, Rodney Witherspoon and Lilly Witherspoon of Lewisville, Texas. One great-grandchild, Will Witherspoon of Lewisville, Texas. Two step-grandchildren, Nick Hastings of Coppell, Texas, and Tony Hastings of Wylie, Texas. Nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Snead, her father, Taylor Snead, her brothers, David, and Junior Snead, and her sister, Hazel Aronson.
Georgia will be missed and will always live in the hearts of her loved ones.
