George Harrington Kilpatrick was born in Denver, Colorado on April 20,1936 and died September 5, 2016. His parents were George Harrington Kilpatrick and Margaret Wall Kilpatrick. He was a business graduate of University of Colorado, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He met his wife, Dotty Winter Kilpatrick while in college and they married after both graduated in 1959.
George spent his entire career as a banker, starting in the credit training program at First National Bank in Dallas. A highlight of his career was being president of Houston Citizens Bank & Trust, a subsidiary of First International Bankshares. He retired as Executive Vice President and manager of Private Banking at NationsBank in Dallas. He was loyal to one banking organization his entire career and was known by his colleagues as a professional and effective administrator, a model family man, a Christian role model, and a truly decent human being. He was a selfless mentor, more focused on helping others with their career than his own. He was a member of American Banking Association, Young Presidents Organization, and Dallas Country Club. While living in Houston, George served on the Harris County Hospital District Board. Back in Dallas, he served on both the Methodist Medical Center Foundation and Hospital boards for over 20 years. George was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and attended the Seekers Class and Wesleyan Fellowship Class. He served on many committees at the church and was a past Chairman of the Administrative Board. After retirement George and Dotty spent many happy times at their beloved vacation home in Breckenridge, Colorado, entertaining family and friends, skiing, hiking and golfing. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, George became active in Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society and served on their board.
George is survived by Dotty, his wife of 57 years, his daughter Robin Boersen and his son Jeff Kilpatrick and wife Lisa Kilpatrick and grandchildren Brandon Boersen, Connor Boersen, Kathleen Kilpatrick, Sydney Kilpatrick, Kate Kilpatrick and John Kilpatrick, all residents of Dallas.
The family would like to thank George's caregivers for the last four years, Hephisibah Otundo, and the entire staff at Loyds of Dallas, where he lived for the last two years, and Holy Savior Hospice.
