Mr. Fred Crawford was born on September 18, 1949 to the parentage of William (Bill) Crawford and Rachel Reynolds in Barnwell, South Carolina. He spent most of this early years near Augusta, Georgia where he attended school and met the love of his life, Brenda Combs. Fred and Brenda were married in February 1969 and to this union, four children were born, Freddie Jr, Belinda, Tonya, and Valarie.
Fred moved his family to the Dallas in the summer of 1973. He accepted the Lord in baptism shortly after moving to Dallas and placed membership with the Peak and Eastside Church of Christ in Dallas. Later, he decided to move his church membership to the Cherry Valley Church of Christ, with Bro. Ben Foster as minister, and finally to Light of the World Church of Christ, where Dr. E.D. Seamster, Jr. is minister.
Fred started working as a Parking Lot Attendant with his brother, Ike Crawford Sr. He later began a career as a Taxi Driver and remained in this position for over 22 years. He received numerous certificates, awards and commendations for his outstanding service as a taxi driver. He retired from the Cab Driving industry and began working part-time as a driver for Kosmic Kids Learning Center and later with Peaceful Image Learning Center. Fred enjoyed the family time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and listening to music.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 54 years Brenda Crawford; son, Freddie Jr (Rose); and daughters, Belinda (Robert), Tonya, and Valarie; grandchildren, Denise, Dominik, Darius, Casey, Makala, Nira, Isaiah, Tyra, Kelsey, Korena, great-grandchildren, Kamar and Kamaria, brother, Roosevelt Crawford, and sisters, Katie Hill, Clara, Elease, Winnie, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and others. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Rachel Crawford, brothers, Bill Jr, Matthew, Elmo, Major, Ike, and Richard, sisters, Louise and Cora.
