A resident of Dallas for over 60 years and later lived in Sugar Land for over 10 years.
A viewing will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Chapel, located at 3235 Lombardy Ln. Dallas, TX 75220. Funeral Service will be held 9:00am on Thursday, June 20, 2019, burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
Frances Bustos Avila was born in Penjamo, Mexico on August 18, 1917. As a child she and her widowed mother immigrated to the United States settling in Dallas. There she later met and married Manuel Avila on July 26, 1936. Frances enjoyed hosting gatherings with her family and many friends. She and her husband enjoyed traveling which included many cruises.
Their most memorable cruise was for their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986 when they invited their entire family to celebrate by going with them on a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands. She also enjoyed gardening at home where she grew many herbs, spices, and beautiful flowers. For many years she was an active member of the Dallas Garden Club.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, and her loving husband, Manuel of 61 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Frances is survived by two sons, Manuel Avila Jr. and Carlos Avila, her granddaughter Melanie and her husband Greg Resnansky, their children Braden, Landon, and Andrew, grandson Robert and his wife Laura Avila and their children Haley and Jacob and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Avila, Michael Beauchamp, Sean Connolly, Matt Perez, Michael Perez, and Greg Resnansky.
