Ellen Martha Leowsky Wallace was born in Festenberg, Germany on June 5, 1928 and went to her heavenly home on June 21, 2020 at the age of 92. She is proceeded in death by her husband, RD Wallace, her mother and father, Karl and Martha Leowsky, her three brothers, Rudy, Gunther and Werner and her Son-in-Law, Carl Grey.
Ellen met RD in Germany while he was serving in the US Army. She was one of the first War Brides to come to America after WW II had ended. After being separated from her family during the war they were all finally reunited 9 years later. She travelled back home to Germany as often as she could and some of her siblings were able to come to visit her in Dallas and see her new life.
She learned English after arriving in the US with the help of her new husband, RD, and his family. She was known in the family for her good German cooking, her needlepoint and crocheted over 100 afghans. She was constantly helping her husband with his many hobbies and activities. They loved camping, boating and skiing. They covered the United States twice on their motorcycle. They were both very active in the Classic Chevy Club of Dallas with several fully restored ‘57 Chevys. They were together for 68 years.
Ellen loved her family more than anything. She is survived by her three sisters, Ruth Schiller, Martha Marko and Gertrude Karbe, daughter, Margie Wallace Grey of Dallas, son, Roger Wallace and Wife, Carol, of Possum Kingdom Lake, Graford; her Grandchildren Farrah Grey West and Husband, Brian, of Plano, Andrea Grey Johnson and Husband, Brandon, of McKinney, Justin Wallace and Wife Tammy of Los Angeles, Sabra Hinson of Benbrook; her Great-Grand Children Cooper Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Kason West, Sawyer Donnell, Georgia Donnell and Jacob Hinson; and many nieces and nephews.
