Ellen Kaspar Gore was born on October 31, 1919 in Thorndale, Texas and died January 22, 2014 in Dallas at the age of 94. She proudly served in the United States Army Nurses Corp during WWII in North Africa and Italy and after the war worked as a nurse at the Nix Hospital in San Antonio. Survived by son, Skip (James) Gore of Dallas and sister, Hildegard Todd of Oklahoma City along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James A. Gore, Jr.; parents, Sam and Clara Kaspar and brothers, Adolph, Wilbert and Edward Kaspar. Ellen and James shared a love of life together including gathering many family and friends at their house in Port Aransas and by attending San Antonio Mission baseball games in their early years. She also loved to crochet. They liked to joke about the fact that he was born on Valentine’s Day and she was born on Halloween by saying she had married a sweetheart and he had married a witch. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the San Jose Burial Park Cemetery in her beloved city of San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA).
