Dorthy was born in Faribault, Minnesota on January 6, 1923, to Ami and Edith Struthers. She graduated from Marshall High School and continued on to receive a B.S. degree in Commerce and Biology from the College of Saint Teresa. Dorthy was married to Donald Philip Sheridan on June 17, 1946; they were married 41 years.
During World War II, Dorthy worked as a secretary for the War Department in Washington, D.C. After the war ended and she and Don were married, Dorthy worked as a housewife and substitute grade school teacher for many years while raising 2 children in Dallas, Texas. She eventually returned to work as an Executive Secretary for various individuals and companies including the Dallas Cowboys during the era when Texas Stadium was built. At the age of 50 she decided to go back to school. After taking night classes at Southern Methodist University for seven years she graduated with her MBA. Dorthy enjoyed playing bridge and gardening. She went to or watched every Dallas Cowboys game. She was always renovating the house with new paint or drapes or carpet or furniture. She was active in a variety of social groups well into her 90s.
Dorthy is preceded in death by her husband Don, her sisters Charlotte and Edith, her brothers John and Tom, and her granddaughter Ellen Marie Mitchell.
Dorthy is survived by her daughter Kathy, her son Philip, her grandchildren Michelle and Micheal and Philip, her great grandchildren Lindsey, David, Clay, Megan, Miranda, Lori, Alana, and Rhiannon, her great-great grandchildren Zoey, Deven, and Juniper, and other nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Calvary Hill Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held immediately after the visitation at 12:00 PM at Calvary Hill North Chapel with Fr. Elijiah Thomson officiating. Committal will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow.
