Dorothy Phelan died on February 16, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on June7, 1920 in Steubenville, Ohio to Casmir and Katherine (Trusillo) Borkowski. She graduated from Miami, University and received her Master in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was an elementary school teacher in Steubenville and was a U.S. Marine in World War II stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina where she met, and later married, Edward John Phelan who died in 1968. She was a homemaker and lived in St. Louis, Missouri, Columbus, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her sons, Robin Phelan, Merrill Phelan and Kevin Phelan, seven grandchildren, Owen Phelan, Emily Phelan, Maura Phelan, Travis Phelan, Tiffany (Phelan) O’Connor, Trevor Phelan and Taezja Phelan and six great grandchildren. Donations to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
