Dorothy was a Texas girl. She preferred being outdoors where she could be surrounded by plants - she had a fondness for roses - working in her yard and watching birds.
She loved God; Jesus was her best friend. She shared His word through a card ministry which began about 60 years ago, blessing many. She lovingly collected images from cards, magazines and artwork along with poems and Bible verses. Each handmade card spread encouragement, cheer and God’s word with a special message for each recipient.
Often working as a care giver, she also worked as a cook in a nursing home, a waitress, a caregiver and worked with her mother at a sewing factory.
Dearly loved by her family, she was known as Nanny and Grandma. Her family fondly remembers her as a wise and tenacious lady who would happily sit for a game of dominoes, share words of wisdom or whip up a quilt. But you better behave, because she would be quick to give those ear lobes a tug if you got out of line.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josiah Jackson Eubanks and Laura Jane Hewett; six sisters and one brother; husband, Edgar Catuogno; and daughter, Lou Ann Hughes Bickett.
She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Suzan Hughes-Kennedy and husband, John Kennedy; and Lydia Kay Hughes Dyer and husband Mike Dyer; and son-in-law, Stephen Bruce Bickett.
Her grandchildren include, Joseph Keith Ortiz and wife, Joyce Kuster Ortiz; Dwinn Anthony Ortiz and wife, Paige Neumann; Stephanie Nicole Campbell and husband, Curtis Campbell; Rachel Louise Procter and husband, Dustin Procter; Nadine Katelynn Sheeley and husband, Andrew Sheeley; Michele Lehman and husband, Ron Lehman; Scott Dyer and wife, Lori Dyer.
