Doreen Rose Smith

Doreen Rose Kirkhoff Smith, 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away on June 1, 2016. Doreen was born in Lima, Ohio on May 20, 1936 to Victor and Velma Kirkoff. She graduated from Lima High School, and spent her life as a devoted wife and mother.

Doreen was married to Robert Glen Smith and they were married for 43 years until his death in 1998.

Family and friends were Doreen’s passion and joy. She was an independent woman, a true lover of life, and always had a smile and a laugh for all who knew her. She was an avid traveler, splitting her time between Dallas, Colorado and Florida. She had a natural talent for art, decorating and fashion, and created beautiful paintings and ceramic art. She took great pride in her home, doing much of the decorating and garden projects on her own. She took particular joy in decorating for the holidays and would start weeks in advance to set the tone for family celebrations.

Doreen was preceded in death by, her husband Robert, her mother and father and her brother Wayne Kirkhoff.

Doreen is lovingly remembered by sons Craig (Carolyn) Smith, Kevin Smith, and Todd (Tracee) Smith, grandchildren Nicole Smith, Stephanie Smith and Hailee Smith, great-grandchildren Dominic Smith and Elizabeth Lamb, brother Paul Kirkhoff, sisters Linda (Gerry) Edmonds and Debbie Dehner and other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 P.M., Monday, June 6, 2016 on June 6, 2016 at 6:at Atria Canyon Creek, 440 Independence Parkway, Plano, Texas 75075. She will be interred next to her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
