Ms. Dollie M Cross

Mother Dollie M. Cross was born in the city of Waco, TX on the 21st day of September 1930 to the parentage of Mr. Columbus Williams and Ms. Rouise Mims Williams. She was educated in the Waco ISD, earning her high school diploma. Ms. Dollie, at the age of 17 traveled to Tacoma Washington with her father. Living with him, she learned to take care of herself. After a while, Mother Dollie returned to Texas, moving to the Dallas area, to live with her mother Rouise Mims Williams-Crew and her husband Bouise Crew (Papa).

Mother Dollie accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Phillips Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor B.E. Phillips and wife Lena M. Phillips. There, she was active in various church activities and programs. Her family then began to grow, adding Linda F. Simmons, Eldon D. Williams, and Byron L. Williams (deceased).

In 1963, Mother Dollie met and married the love of her life, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, Grady A. Cross. She was a loving and devoted wife to him for almost 30 years until his death in 1989. At the same time, Mother Cross worked for Parkland Memorial Hospital as a nurse assistant in the Labor and Delivery unit for more than 35 years. As a matter of fact, Mother Dollie Cross was working at the hospital the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. She assisted in the surgery preparation of the operation room for the President that day. Mother Dollie was a hard worker, she provided for her family, as well as, worked diligently in the church all her life, until her health began to fail.

Mother Dollie M. Cross is preceded in death by her loving Husband – Mr. Grady A. Cross, Father – Mr. Columbus Williams, Mother – Ms. Rouise Crew, Step-Father – Mr. Bouise Crew, Son – Byron L. Williams, and Great-Grandson, Xavier Cross.

She leaves to cherish her memories, Daughter – Linda F. Simmons, Son – Pastor Eldon D. Williams and Rebecca D. Williams (Wife), Grandchildren – Elbert D. and Ta Cross (3 children), Sonya E. Cross (1 child), Ronald E. Cross and family, Sheldon D. and Telisha M. Williams (3 Children), Precious D. and Antonio D. Jones (4 children), Antoine Williams, Great-Great-Grands, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of other family members and friends.

A visitation for Dollie will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232.
