David Crawford

Dave was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Margaret, who proceeded him in death in February 2020. They spent their lives together in East Dallas and faithfully attended St. Thomas Aquinas church, where they were married on April 15, 1967. He is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Bill Tate, nephew Michael Tate and wife Jennifer, nieces Ann Tate, Joan Tate, and Roseann Martin of Dallas, and Joann McCullough of Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

Dave grew up in Tulsa before moving to Dallas, attending Jesuit and developing an ethic for hard work. He threw a paper route for the Dallas Times-Herald newspaper, was a bicycle delivery boy for a pharmacy and sold watermelons at night from a stand on Greenville Avenue. He moved back to Oklahoma where he lived with his grandparents and finished his education before moving back to Dallas.

Dave went to work for the First National Bank and had his first experience with electronics, operating a photostat machine. His work was so impressive that he was recruited to join a new company called Haloid Xerox. He serviced Xerox's first modern copiers and continued to master their reproduction products through his retirement in 1987.

In his retirement Dave worked loyally with his fellow retirees from Xerox and then with the organization that he'd essentially dedicate the rest of his life to: the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He served twice as Faithful Navigator of the the Abram J. Ryan Assembly #1087, the oldest Fourth degree assembly in Texas.

He was happiest and most relaxed when out fishing, a skill he learned from his grandfather and uncle. He developed a fine knowledge of good cars and good food, enjoyed playing cards with his friends. And he loved telling jokes, which he continued to do with his doctors and nurses up to the very end.
