Danny will be greatly missed-loved all of our fun times at the pool, hanging out at the State Fair of Texas, seeing live bands and spending holidays together.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Danny . My heart goes out to Mara, his parents and Ken. I met Danny many years ago at Ken’s restaurant and he was such a great man. I have such fond memories of those days and I will never forget them.

Knew Danny since kindergarten in 1977 at Captain School which was directly across the street from the apartment that he lived in. 
My earliest memories of Danny were of going to the Shaw Park pool in Clayton together as little kids during the summer. Even though he hated to get his hair wet at the pool.
I remember going to Danny's bedroom as first graders and he showed me a Kiss rock band album that he was impressed by, or maybe it was Ken's. 
Danny and I had a fondness for baseball card collecting and we used to trade baseball cards and we went to a baseball card show together. We were both really big Cardinals baseball fans and went to some games together as well as a Blues hockey game and lots of movies.
We used to play one on one corkball, a form of baseball, on the playground across the street from his apartment building. The games would come to an end when his Mom would shout from the apartment window "Danny...dinner is ready" at 5:30pm.
As time went on we became closer friends during our last couple of years of High School. He would walk to my house in the morning so that I could give him a ride to high school in a beat up VW convertible.
He was very enthusiastic at the time to join the military.
During our last summer of high school, 1989, he went to basic training at Fort Leonard. When he returned he came over to my place to visit and I remember how surprised I was to see him with a virtually shaved head. I think Danny lost his enthusiasm for the military after that summer experience he had.
Danny was always a very easy going kid, as well as an adult, in that he never seemed to get really mad or upset at anyone or anything.
After Danny moved to Dallas in the Spring of 1993 we kept in touch mainly over the phone and then in more recent years phone and texts. Since he moved to Dallas over 25 years ago I don't think much more than a month has gone by in which we have not talked with each other.

For the past few years he mentioned wanting to come back to St. L

Danny was a wonderful neighbor. Seeing him would always brighten my walk and it was so evident he truly cared about people. He will certainly be missed. It's like we lost a bit of sunshine in our neighborhood when we lost Danny. My love and prayers are with Mara and Danny's family. He was a good man.

Dear Rothman Family,

Very sorry to hear about Danny's death. I saw the obituary posted on Facebook and wondered if it was the same Danny I remembered from Northwood. I have many fond memories of Kenny and the family when we lived in the three-family brownstone by DeMun/Captain Elementary.  Sending my condolences.

We were so very saddened to learn of Danny’s passing.   Danny was always a people person with a big smile and friendly chatter.  We didn’t see him often, but always enjoyed our visits, be they inMO or TX.  Our deepest condolences to Marcia, Mara, Dick and Ken.  We send our love and prayers to all of you.  Aunt Phyllis, Uncle Jack, the Krug Family and Bruce.

Danny was such a wonderful, sincere, and compassionate soul.  He was a true lover of the arts, history, politics, travel, and great food.   Just a few short weeks ago, Danny came to St. Louis for a short vacation and house sat for the Barthels in his old neighborhood.  We shared many socially-distanced meals eating many of Danny’s St. Louis favorites.  We had a great time and I will cherish those memories and all my great memories with Danny.  I love you forever, Danny.  Now you are at peace, my brother.  

Danny - You were always a smiling face with GREAT Adventurous stories, both of which could light up a room.  

Thank you for being there for me during my rough times.  You will always be remembered for your generosity and kindness.

Rest Easy My Friend.

The friendship that I have with Danny and Mara is very special because they are both such special beautiful people.  I will always be honored to be considered part of their family.

I only met Danny a couple of times but his outgoing and friendly personality was so obvious. He was one of those people that you always remember and makes you smile.  I have known and loved Mara for almost 40 years.  She became my daughter's best friend in middle school and she was like my own daughter. She. Is one of the sweetest. People I have ever known and has a giving and loving heart.  The times I saw her and Danny together I could tell they had a special love and I was so  happy for them. My heart is
broken for Mara but I also know how strong she is.  I will not be able to be at the service but my love and heart will be with her.  I love you Mara

What a true joy, a friend, a light. We shared a birthday week, a love of the State Fair of Texas, having fun, and musicals, of course! Dearest Mara, my heart breaks with yours. Opening day has indeed gone dark this year. Lots of love to you and his family. 


I met Danny at sixth grade camp, and he instantly became my brother my funniest memory was the summer before college we bought a keg and tried to drink it. Eternal the two of us... we did not succeed. 

Marsue and I are heartbroken and we can’t believe that Danny is gone.  God prepared this beautiful world for us to live and love our families.  Life is short and our bodies wear out.  We only hope that we make a contribution to others, influence the young, bring comfort to the aged, teach those who seek truth.  Danny was such a person.  Always met others with a smile, knew so much about small details, could speak to any subject.  We had so many conversations about Jerusalem.  We included a picture of Marsue and I in the Garden of Gethsemane just above the Kidron Valley and Mount Moriah where two temples were built.  We knew him as friend.  Mara knew him as husband.  So sorry that we won’t see his smile again

This photo means so much to our family and just shows you how wonderful and hospitable the Rothmans are! Olivia was baptized in their pool and then a huge party was celebrated by all! Danny and Mara were genuinely blessed to host us and it’s a day I will never forget! We miss you so much Danny and love you Mara. I hate that we will be out if town this weekend and unable to make the service. We are praying for you and grieving with you. Love you so much, Megan
