Curtis Ray Boydston, 88 years, of Allison, TX, and OKC, OK, passed away on 05/04/2021 at 9:35 pm in Yukon, OK. Thankfully, he was not alone. He passed on in the presence of Loriann Boydston, Sarita Boydston and Juanita Kay Boydston and the hospice nurse, Jennifer. He was blessed to be prayed over by the Allison pastor -Dale Sanford, OKC pastor -Mark Parker and the Traditions Hospice Chaplain -Cord Fowler before God sent him home.
As Grandma Boydston proudly told me, Curtis Ray Boydston was born in Hemphill County, TX, inside a tent. His parents were Willie Hartsel Boydston and Opal May Brown, born on 03/07/1933. He was born during the Great Depression and passed on his skills of financial responsibility and independence to all his children. He was known as a chivalrous man with southern charm and manners.
He is survived by his current spouse, Lois Lillian Boydston, married on 04/20/2003 in Oklahoma City, OK. He outlived his 2nd wife, Roberta Louise Dennett with children Katherine Ann Boydston and Loriann Boydston. He was divorced from his 1st wife Veda Mea Hudson with the only surviving child, Tony Curtis Boydston.
He was a veteran of the Korean war and served in the US Army from 1952-1953 for which he was awarded the National Defense Service medal, Korean Service medal and the UN Service medal. He worked as a federal employee for the United States Postal Service in various capacities over the span of more than 35 years. He was a devote Christian and was involved in the Pentecostal Church both in Allison, TX, and in Oklahoma City, OK. His major hobby was putting puzzles pieces together.
Curtis Ray Boydston is preceded in death by Roberta Louise Boydston and they will be rejoined for this occasion in the same plot at Hillcrest Memorial Park; Sparkman/ Hillcrest funeral home. Both of Curtis’ parents, oldest brother, Clifton Wayne Boydston, and Willie Vance Boydston preceded him in death as well.
Curtis Ray Boydston is survived by his brother -Forrest Glenn Boydston, sister -Juanita Kay Boydston, his children Tony C. Boydston, Katherine A. Boydston and Loriann Boydston. His surviving grandchildren include Danny Jones of Desoto, TX, Keith Mason Boydston of Bedford, TX and Chasity Renee Hill of Irving, TX. Also surviving relatives include cousins / nephews / nieces Sarita Green, Robbie Green, Gary Wayne Boydston and Benny Clifton Boydston; along with many others.
Funeral services will be held 12 pm, Friday, May 14th, 2021, at Sparkman /Hillcrest Funeral Home, address 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225. Please note the cemetery is located next door to the funeral home. Mark Parker of Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church from OKC, OK, will be officiating the ceremony. Burial and military honors will follow directly after at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family of Loriann Boydston wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Traditions Healthcare (hospice) and the staff at Sparkman / Hillcrest funeral home that honored and upheld a contract first purchased in 1983. Also, the United Pentecostal Church of Allison, Southern Oaks Pentecostal Church of OKC, Cherished support group, Compass Church of Colleyville and all the friends and family that supported us with prayers in our time of need.
