Coleman L. Phillips passed away on March 15, 2011 in Dallas, TX. Coleman was born on June 8, 1925 in Henderson, TN. He was a World War II veteran attaining the rank of sergeant and received the Purple Heart while serving in Germany. After moving to Fort Worth, he met the love of his life, Billie Jo Taylor and they married November 26, 1947. In 1951, he graduated from the University of Texas with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. He later returned to school and received his Masters in Aerospace Engineering from SMU. He retired from E-Systems after 35 years of service.
Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and his wife Billie Jo. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret, daughters: Jo Carol Phillips, Sharon Pietsch and husband Mike, Linda Kay Jordan and husband T.J., Cynthia Martinez and husband Xavier. He is also survived by grandchildren Natalie and Cole Pietsch, Jesse and Kyle Jordan, Shauna Farmer, Nicole and Taylor Henderson and five great grandchildren.
He enjoyed the horse races, family vacations, coin collecting, and UT football games - especially the rivalry between UT and Oklahoma.
Special thanks goes to the 4th floor nursing staff headed by Derrick at Signature Pointe as well as to the care givers from Paradigm.
Visitation will be held at Sparkman /Hillcrest on Northwest Highway Friday, March 18 from 1:00 – 2:00, service to follow at 2:00 with interment at Grove Hill Cemetery.
