Charlotte Parmelee Webb, on August 3, 2010, our beloved mother Charlotte Parmelee Webb peacefully passed away at her home. Born October 25, 1918, she was happily married for 53 years to Herbert Everett Webb and together they created seven children, 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. “Charsh,” as she was fondly referred to, was a woman who believed people could do anything they set their mind to and set this example herself by graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Women’s University in 1941 in an age when women college graduates were a rarity. After marrying Herbert Webb, she supported him through lean times until his company became successful; many times she would encourage him to press on because she believed that failure was not an option. She was a source of positive thinking who constantly uplifted her neighbors and friends with her strong outlook. She once said “don’t think that cannot be accomplished, just change the subject if you’re stuck on a dead-end thought” illustrating her conviction that one’s will made all the difference. Her neighbors recognized her as the “Matriarch of the Neighborhood” who annually threw a block party for old friends and newcomers. She was genuinely interested in people and wanted everyone to do well. Another example of this is that when she and Herbert travelled, she would always return with new friends added to her address book. She was a friendship magnet, attracting new friends naturally. She was a regular member of University Park United Methodist Church, and supported many educational and religious charities. Her memorial service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1 p.m. at University Park United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Parliament of the World’s Religions, c/o Center for Spiritual Living, 4801 Spring Valley Road, Suite 115; Dallas, TX 75244 or Baylor Health Care System Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Fund, 3600 Gaston Avenue, Suite 100, Dallas, Texas 75246.
