I am so sorry after all of these years to learn of Charles' passing. I don't need to to tell you all what a beautiful person he was. To me he was a true friend and mentor.  God Blessed me with getting to know and work with Charles.  God Blessed you all to have him as a husband and father.

I just found out about Charlie's death. Gloria and I are so sorry. Charlie was a great guy, good friend and a wonderful person. I was watching the World Series and saw Chris up on the mound. Looked up some information on him and his successful recovery from his injuries and found out about Charlie. 

I remember so well our time in the Navy in Rota and Jacksonville with both of you. Good times and good experiences together. Our sympathy and condolences are with you and your family.

I called him Charlie in high school.  He was two years older and in my brother Jimmy's class. We played football together and I remember he always treated me like a little brother. He seemed to always have a wink and a smile. A great kid who became a great man. Rest in peace my friend

I've had the pleasure of knowing Charles since his days at Metropolitan Savings & Loan in the 1980s.  Our paths continued to cross occasionally over the years and if I had to sum up my impression of Charles in a few words it would be "A True Texas Gentleman".  From my experience those are becoming a rarer and rarer breed.  Charles will be missed but hopefully his memory will serve as a role model for me and others.

The Park Cities lost a great man. Charles was always gentle, loving and positive. Something the world needs more of today. He was always supportive of me as a coach and the life lessons that athletics taught. He never got in the way of that with his children. He just enjoyed being a proud parent and watching his kids play. Charles was also a giving man. He always supported my ministry and gave without asking anything in return. Charles will be remembered not only for the things he did, but the man he was! Character counts and Charles was a man of character. Charles and Lillie are examples of what true sports parents should be like. Charles was a man with loving qualities that we should all possess. May God comfort all who mourn his death.

Being a good friend of Sue, growing up in Everman, I always enjoyed going to her home with her big, happy, family. He was popular, handsome, and a nice young man to be admired by many. I know his parents welcomed him with opened arms. Our prayers and sympathy. My Dad, Charles Edward Smith, died the day after him and my prayers at mass will include Charlie Young, too.

Charles and I played side by side at TCU in his senior year. We were buddies and I was the guard next to him. We enjoyed playing next to each other because in that era we did a lot of double teaming. Our victory over Texas was our high light of the season. Charley and I did not keep up with each other because I flew KC 135 air refueling in the airforce. I always admired him because we both were so small compared to the teams we played, Texas, Ohio State, Nebraska,  and others. I am sorry for his passing, maybe he and I can meet again some day in our next life.

Lillie I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  My thoughts are with you and your  family.  Your family wrote such a lovely tribute to him.  It was just beautiful.  What a distinguished career he had.  Take care.  Sue Krider

Charles was a very nice man and so family oriented. I know my daughter in law and son speak so highly of Charles and Lilly. I am so sorry I am unable to attend services. I know it will be a great tribute to Charles. My prayers are with you all in this sad time. I know my sister and bro in law (PD and Sandra Shabay) also spoke highly of Charles.

I worked with Charles at NorthCorp and always admired his calm demeanor and the warm smile he had for everyone.  He was incredibly intelligent yet approachable, and was a wonderful manager and leader.  My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

CY was such a wonderful man and even with all of his accomplishments in life, I know he would say his family was the finest. I will miss him as will countless others.

I do cherish the fun times we all had when our kids were growing up and later, always staying in touch now that our kids are all young adults. Whenever I came to your home for a visit, I always enjoyed CY sitting in his chair and welcoming me with that great smile of his. 

Precious friends, I have kept all of you in my prayers for these last 4 years and I continue to pray...now, for strength through this terribly sad and difficult time. I love you all.

Charles was a good and kind friend of many years.  He always made me laugh with his remarks and stories. Charles' kind soft voice will be missed forever.
He loved his family and my prayers are with them.

Charles/Charlie was one of the neighborhood kids when we were growing up.  He was a towheaded kid with a big smile and a gentle way.  I didn't get to see Charlie much in our adult years, but he was always someone I admired.  I remember a day several months ago when five of the old gang sat gathered together around another mutual friend who  was battling Cancer.  That day we all stepped back in time to those childhood memories and Charlie kept us laughing with some funny adventures  that he had shared with some of us who were present that day.   It was a bittersweet time of laughing and knowing we were saying goodbye to two dear friends.  My prayers are with Charlie's family as they face tomorrow without their gentle giant.
