Charles Edward McKinney (Chuck) of Cedar Hill passed away June 10, 2018 after a brief illness at UT Southwestern Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born December 5, 1951 in Dallas to William Wayne McKinney Jr. and Erma Lee Caldwell McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Donna Thompson McKinney; daughter Kristen Michelle Deaton and husband Duff of Denver City; daughter Amy Trammell and husband Clay of Arlington.
Grandchildren; Kelly-Ann Deaton, Klaire Deaton, Hunter Trammell and Madeline Kay Trammell. Sister in law Rosa McKinney, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces , nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. William Wayne McKinney Jr., his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Wayne McKinney Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Caldwell, his in laws Mr. and Mrs. WR Thompson; his brother William Wayne McKinney III; sister in law Diane Thompson; and daughter Kelly Kay McKinney.
Chuck graduated from Bryan Adams high school in Dallas in 1969. He went on to attend college at East Texas State University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.Chuck enjoyed his career as a truck driver for Sears and later Saia Motor Freight for more than 40 plus years. He drove millions of miles across the country. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an excellent cook and many people thought he missed his calling as a chef.
Chuck was a family man. His favorite thing in life was to be with his family and friends. He was a gentle giant who leaves behind a big hole in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be greatly missed.
