Charles Melford Gibson, b. May 4, 1927, died Feb. 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by Mayola Ellen Gibson (nee McCamish), his wife of 60 years, and one great-grandson, Lance Polk of Fort Smith, AR. Charles is survived by one daughter, Pamela K. Gibson of Lewisville, TX, and two sons, Charles Michael “Mike” Gibson of Knoxville, TN, and Mark A. Gibson of St. Louis, MO as well as six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous friends including truckers from across the country. Charles was born in Cape Girardeau and spent his childhood and early adulthood in Dexter. After serving his country as a supply truck driver in Korea, Charles came home and spent the remainder of his life in the trucking business, first as a driver then as owner of a small trucking company. He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
