DABOUB, Charles On Wednesday, November 11th 2020, Charles Hubert Daboub, loving husband, devoted father and adored "Pops", passed away at the age of 82. Charles was born on March 25th, 1938 in San Salvador, El Salvador, to Anthony and Inez Daboub. The Daboub family moved to Dallas in 1945. Charles and his four brothers attended Sacred Heart Catholic School then went on to graduate from Jesuit College Preparatory School in 1957. He then attended Southern Methodist University business school and earned his degree in 1962. A talented artist, designer, and entrepreneur, Charles created and owned CDDI (Charles Daboub Design Incorporated), going on to design hundreds of restaurants around the world including Hard Rock Cafes, Planet Hollywoods, and ESPN Zones. He married the love of his life Vedah, on December 1st, 1975. They were a beautiful couple who enjoyed traveling, celebrating life with friends and spending summers in the pool with family. A devoted father to son Charles Jr, and daughters Danielle and Nicole, he always supported his children in their endeavors, encouraging them to pursue their passions relentlessly. Charles would invariably come home from work and after playing basketball with his children, he'd slip on his robe, cross his legs and read the newspaper page by page, front to back, and on Sundays he always gave the funnies section to his kids. He also loved car magazines, architecture, a good movie, watching sports, art, and doodling on a yellow notepad. At social gatherings, rules went out the window as he never shied away from a good political or religious debate, despite opposition in the room. He was a realist to his core; a big believer in science and a person who never stopped loving to learn. The universe fascinated him. Charles battled with Alzheimers for the last nine years of his life. Although he hid it well from nearly anyone who walked in the room, the disease took a lot from him, but never his smile and sense of humor. Unfortunately he ultimately succumbed to COVID-19. Charles is preceded in death by his father Anthony Daboub, his mother Inez Daboub, and his brothers Anthony Daboub Jr. and Mario Daboub. He is survived by his loving wife Vedah, his son Charles Daboub Jr, his daughter Danielle Shermer married to Richard, his daughter Nicole Daboub, his three precious grandchildren who lit up his life Westley, Charlie and Finley. As well as his brothers Henry Daboub, Art Daboub and countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Due to COVID restrictions, the family will have a private burial and hope to be able to gather and celebrate his amazing life in 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you please wear a mask and any memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601. "Love you more."
