Cecelia Jane Simpson better known to friends and family as Cece, 66, passed away February 12, 2017 in Plano Texas. Cecelia was born August 1, 1950 to Hubert and Lorena Nichols, in Bonham, Texas. She was the youngest child of three and a beloved little sister to James and Jeannie.
Cece spent her youth in Bonham Texas. As a child she was fond of Christmas, but even more so of Santa Claus. She loved to wait for Santa Claus with her Dad, Hubert. He would be as excited for Santa’s arrival as Cece. She believed in Santa until she was too big to believe in him! Cece graduated from Millington Central High School. Friends and family would remember her as really sweet, hard-working, quiet, and yet strong-willed.
Cece’s ambition was to have a career in the medical field as an X-ray technician. Soon after starting the journey she realized it would not be the career choice for her. In a phone call to Jeannie she reluctantly told her sister of her discovery. When Jeannie inquired why the change of heart, Cece confessed, “I just don’t like sick people.” She realized it would take more patience than she had to tend to sick patients. She set her career path in another direction opening a telecommunications company with her sister, Jeannie, Tasco, Inc.
Cece and Jeannie had a passion for Antiques and would move their life’s work into that field, opening a joint business, the Antique Mall of Granburry. Cece loved buying and selling antiques. She was a real entrepreneur and enjoyed a healthy business partnership with Jeannie. She would later put her hat in the ring of real estate by becoming a real estate agent. Cece was a dedicated business woman and it could be said that if she were going to step out that front door it had to have something to do with business.
On November 16, 1979, Cece married the love her life, David Bradshaw Simpson. They spent 37 wonderful years together. Although they did not have children of their own many would say they had a baby of their own in their beloved and cherished Scottish terrier, Mel Gibson.
Cece enjoyed family and her fondest memories were sharing Christmas with David, his children and grandchildren, her sister and her family, and her brother and his family. In her down time she enjoyed shopping and traveling, but that was if and when you could get her to leave her office.
Cece is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Lorena Nichols and her brother-in-law, Bob Dickson.
Cece leaves behind her husband: David Bradshaw Simpson; beloved fury-baby: Mel Gibson; brother: James D Nichols (Mary) of Irving TX; sister: Jeannie Dickson of Plano TX; step-children Joe Simpson (Sandra) and Bradley Simpson, Diane Leighton (Tim); grandchildren: Joe and Allie; nieces and nephews: Stacie Slay (Barbara), Darren Dickson (Dina), Bobbi Wysong, Jonathan Nichols (Kelly), Kristy Choate (Robert); Great-nieces and nephews: Darby Dickson, Davis Dickson, Tyler Moore, Karen Nichols, Michael Nichols, Hunter Choate, Sara Choate, and many more family and friends.
A memorial Service will be arranged in the future at the Veterans Cemetery.
