Cathy Gail Mitchell Teeter of Mesquite, Texas, born November 22, 1950, passed away on January 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeptha Ray and Dorothy K. Mitchell, cousin/best friend Paula Wilkerson Handke, along with many aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Her surviving family includes daughter Crystal Teeter Rees and husband Morgan, daughter Jenna Teeter, brother Ray Mitchell and wife Sandy, brother Brian Mitchell and wife Barbara, grandchildren Keelie Rees, Katelyn Rees, MJ Yow, Brendan Rees, bonus daughter Dawn Lemons and husband Darren and bonus grandchildren Kylie, Dawson, Scarlett and Stetson, and so many more family and loved ones.
Cathy was an unstoppable woman. She beat cancer twice, overcame multiple medical issues and never let a challenge of any kind keep her down. She raised two very independent women all on her own and folded so many people into the family that she built.
She was a hairstylist for over 30 years, and was well loved by her clients. She loved crunching ice ALL the time, and watching Heartland on repeat, as well as the studs on Yellowstone.
Cathy was a notorious prankster, delivering jump-scares to anyone she could - from sneaking around corners to shrouding herself in a blanket and white mask and moaning down the hall after you. The only thing that got her back good was a balloon that floated around her house for a couple of weeks. She turned around from the freezer to that balloon staring her in the face. In the moment, she thought someone was standing behind her and boxed it down.
That story perfectly sums up Cathy, she always came out swinging. There are so many memories that could be shared, but if you knew her, you have your own stories to make you smile. We morn the loss, celebrate the life and treasure the memories that will live on.
