Carolyn N. Reese

Carolyn Norwood Reese passed away on August, 17, 2015, after a courageous battle with lobular breast cancer first diagnosed in 2004 and metasizied to her bones in 2010. She was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to wonderful Christian parents, Frank and Eula Norwood, who predeceased her in 1947 and 1968. Even though her father died in her youth, he always had a powerful influence on her life. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Dale, of 51 years, one sister, Nancy Munn, and one brother, Anthony Woods and wife Mitzi, and wonderful nephews and nieces, Shelia Munn and her daughter Sawyer; Zachary, Garrett, Lexi and Steven Renfro; Diana, Vincent and Joseph Martin; and Aleta, Benjamin and Jacob Akthar.

Carolyn was an honor graduate of Hazlehurst High School, attended CoLin Junior College, and received a B.S. degree in business from Mississippi College in 1965. Her career of 39 years was all with Bell System and affiliates in Jackson, Mississippi and Dallas where she received numerous sales awards and honors, including President’s Club and Achievers Club. Carolyn loves were her God, her husband, family, and incredible friends. Her special interests were her love of flowers, yard beautification and her cats. She is a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, Dallas, Geological Society Auxiliary where she served two terms as President; Geobunda Garden Club, North Dallas Area Women’s Club, Northwood Women’s Club, Gilda’s Cancer Support Center, Texas Master Gardeners and she volunteered for the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, August 19th from 6 until 8pm at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be the following morning, Thursday August 20th at 10am at Prestonwood Baptist Church Plano campus. Following the service there will be a procession to Restland Memorial Park for her committal service.
