his wife Catherine, their youngest son Chandler and entered his Heavenly Home with our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. He leaves his wife Catherine of 40 years and their children, Jeremiah, Austin and Chandler,
along with wife to Chandler, Christie Wright and granddaughters Megan, Grace and Caselyn.
The youngest of five, Brad was born in Midland, Texas, to Durward and Barbara Wright on May 15, 1959.
Predeceased by his parents, Brad leaves to cherish his memory, Greg Wright and wife, Christy; Cynthia
Crutcher and husband Bill; Richard Wright and Garth Wright and wife Sabrina. Also, numerous nieces
and nephews and an ongoing count of great-nieces and great-nephews.
With athletic siblings and a father that could coach, Brad grew up with a ball or a bat in his hands.
Though he was the youngest, he grew to excel and was to be the largest of the Wright clan. Success in
youth sports led to success in high school (only the second three sport Letterman/Starter in the history
of Midland Lee High School). In high school he continued to shine in the classroom as a member of the
National Honor Society. Popular with fellow students, he was named Most Valuable Athlete and Mr. Lee
High School on the School Court in 1977. Brad led the Lee High School Rebels football team to a bi-district championship in 1976. He set a single game record, throwing five TDs at the time when running was the focus. Recruited by several colleges for football, he chose to attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
At UNM Brad got an opportunity to start at quarterback when the senior starter had an injury. He played so well that he remained the starter throughout his college career (sans a few injuries of his own). At UNM he received national recognition where his total offense numbers left him 4th in the Nation. He was named ABC Offensive Player of the Game in a game against Utah and the Associated Press named him National Back of the Week after UNM upset BYU. In 1978 he threw for 452 yards in a game against Texas Tech. In 1981, Brad was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round. After Miami he joined the Dallas Cowboys as a backup QB for Tom Landry.
He joined New York Life as a successful agent during an NFL strike, until leaving that position to become a corporate manager and recruiter for Mary Kay Cosmetics in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Mary Kay was his work home until 1998, when he rejoined New York Life as a partner in Management where he remained until his passing.
He was the reigning “Horseshoe Champion” at the annual Lake Brownwood Boy’s Weekend, having only
suffered one defeat in nearly 15 years. Brad Wright was the true representation of a ‘gentle giant’. Large and fierce, Brad walked through this world with a huge heart, deep love and kindness for anyone who knew him. He dearly loved his wife Catherine, his sons, and the many four legged creatures he had throughout his life. He is and will be missed.
Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Bible Church ,located at 11306 Inwood Road in Dallas, Texas,
75229 on February 7th, 2022, at 1:00 pm.
