Betty Head Sanford

Betty Lou Hall was born in 1929 to Robert Allie Hall and Edna Mae Jones Hall at their home in Mulberry, Texas. She was one of ten children. After graduating from High School in Bonham, Texas, she took off for the big city of Dallas where she met and married Ace Head II (known as Larry) in February 1950. They had two children; Ace Lawrence Head III (known as Skeeter) and Cynthia Louise Head. In the late-1950s, she started working at Texas Instruments. Despite working full-time for over 35 years, she was an active mother, immaculate house keeper and loving care-provider. She and Larry were always very generous to open their home (and dinner table) to family and friends.

She really loved her grandchildren: Jonathan, Stephen, Austin and Ashley. They could do no wrong. She was a constant source of fun and excitement. Whatever they wanted to do, she made it happen. She and Larry hosted the grands at their house so often that Granny’s and Papa’s house was their home-away-from-home filled with love, great food and much attention. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren and a very beloved daughter-in-law Lois and son-in-law Eddie.

She loved her brothers and sisters as well. They were all special to her. If they needed help, she was always ready to do “whatever” needed to be done.

After Larry died in 1997, Betty remarried a childhood friend, Bob Sanford, and returned to Mulberry where she had started her life. She was active in the Mulberry Methodist Church.

At age 94, Betty passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie Brosofske, sister Ella Mae Smith, brother R. A. Hall, brother Jack Hall, brother Ned Hall, and brother Ted Hall. She is survived by her son, Ace Head III and wife Lois Head, grandson Jonathan Head and wife Kaylon Head, and great-grandchildren Carter Krukiel and Claire Krukiel. She is also survived by her daughter Cindy Priess and husband Eddie Priess, granddaughter Ashley Horn and husband Col. Ramsey Horn, great-grandchildren Grayson Horn, Adelyn Horn and Bowen Horn; grandson Dr. Stephen Moreland and wife Tuesday Moreland, great-grandchildren Kaydence Haffelder, Elijah Moreland, and Elliana Moreland; and grandson Austin Priess and wife Jamie Priess. She is also survived by sisters Nea Young, Janice Mumford, Bobbie Lightfoot and husband Billy Lightfoot; sister-in-law Tommie Hall, sister-in-law Linda Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty lived a full blessed life. She worked hard and never complained. She helped many and will be greatly missed.

A visitation for Betty will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM and a committal service will follow at Grove Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.

The funeral service on Saturday, May 20, 2023 starting at 2:00 PM in the Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel will be livestreamed from our website.
