Beth Phillips Anderson

She was a strong believer, loving wife, wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and one-of-a-kind friend. Beth is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Anderson; her precious daughters, Ava (13) and Allie (11); her parents, Harry and Carter (Richardson) Phillips of Columbia, South Carolina; her brothers, Richard Phillips of Greenville, South Carolina and Dr. Mark Phillips (Michelle) of Nashville, Tennessee. Beth also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, and countless other family and friends.

Beth was born on September 23, 1969 in Chester, South Carolina. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1987 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with Magna Cum Laude recognition from Clemson University in South Carolina. She joined Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and maintained lifelong friendships from that time. Beth went on to earn her Master’s degree in Architecture with Magna Cum Laude recognition from North Carolina State University. Over the years, Beth lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Taiwan, Charlotte, and Atlanta prior to making her permanent home in Dallas.

On September 4, 2004 she married Scott Anderson, the love of her life, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church surrounded by family and friends. They first met while volunteering at Northwest Bible Church and knew immediately they were meant to be together for life. From that day forward, Beth and Scott were rarely apart. Their daughters completed their love and were the lights of their lives.

Beth’s passion for architecture and interior design led her to a long, successful career with Herman Miller where she was surrounded by an amazing group of co-workers many of whom have remained in her life ever since. She did architectural design work for churches in North Carolina as well as for her parents’ home and her current home with Scott. She was always willing to assist friends with design advice as well. After Herman Miller, she moved into Commercial Flooring Sales with Patcraft and Mohawk. Beth was a hard-worker, constant learner, and someone everyone wanted on their team.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Some of her happiest memories with them were camping at Dangerfield State Park, road trips to Nashville, annual Thanksgiving gatherings with family at Montgomery Bell State Park in Burns, TN, and her teenage summers in Montreat with her parents.

Beth was an active member of Northwest Bible Church in Dallas for 15 years and was involved in Bible Studies, Women’s Ministry, and Children’s Ministry. She was an active member of 4word, Dallas Real Estate Ministries (DREM), and NeedHim Global. Beth was passionate about making sure others knew and felt comforted by the love of Christ. Over the last two years, members of the church have truly served as the hands and feet of Christ in the way they have surrounded, cared for, and provided for Beth and her family.

Beth will be lovingly remembered for her million-dollar smile, her inclusiveness, and her ability to lift people up. She had a God-fearing, gentle-hearted, kind-natured, adventurous spirit. She was an athletic, funny, chocolate-loving, amazing woman who fiercely loved and cared for her family and friends. Beth will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Northwest Bible Church at a later date.
