Benjamin "Ben" Paul Robinson

Nebraska, to Richard and Virginia Robinson. He came into the world with a big

presence, weighing in at 10 lbs, 5 oz. His engaging personality, confidence, and

powerful smile always made him a leader among his family and friends.

However, it was “BIG” Ben’s enormous heart and great compassion for others

that truly made him a giant among those who knew him best. His final act of

selflessness was as a donor to the Southwest Transplant Alliance.

Ben was the oldest of four siblings: Joe Robinson, Melissa Bachman, and Andy

Robinson. Ben’s mother, Ginny, adored him from the beginning, as he was her

helper and pride and joy his entire life. Ben was a traveler from the beginning of

his life until his sudden death. During his childhood he lived in Valley, NE; Grand

Rapids, MI; Columbia, MO; Walnut Creek, CA; Eureka, CA; and Catskill, NY. He

maintained friendships and contacts in all locations. Ben attended middle school

and high school in Plano, TX before graduating from Trinity Christian Academy in

1989. Throughout High School Ben excelled in baseball, football, and wrestling.

He was an All-State letterman in two sports when he graduated from Trinity

Christian Academy. Ben earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the

University of Texas in Austin and was later accepted to the MBA program at

Purdue University.

He started his professional career in technology at Dell and followed this with

positions at Acer and Microsoft. Ultimately, it was his desire to innovate which led

him to many successful entrepreneurial ventures across diverse industries. Ben

was known for his creativity, and had more good ideas in an hour than most of us

will have in a lifetime.

Ben’s family was always the most important thing in his life. As a father, his

greatest joy was his two children, Rachel Jenal, 23 and William Kenneth, 18. NO

MATTER WHERE life took him, he was always available for them and would do

anything to help them be successful. Ben was intimately involved in all aspects of

their lives and took great pride in seeing them grow and excel as individuals. He

was always their biggest supporter and was present anytime they needed a hug

or guidance. He felt strongly that they immerse themselves in diverse cultures

through international travel and learning. Ben believed that the experiences they

gained would lead them to a successful life, following in his footsteps.

A man with a true sense for adventure, Ben never left the house without his

passport. He established businesses and cultivated friendships in San Pedro,

Belize where he resided for several years and had avidly been back to visit time

and time again. He considered the islanders there not only his friends, but his

extended family.

Ben met his fiancé, Rachel Brock, in November of 2009. The two of them spent

the next decade challenging one another, traveling the world and living a free spirited

lifestyle. Uncle Ben adored his nieces and nephews and cherished every

moment he got to be with them. He ensured they would have a love for fishing

and frequently took them to catch bass off his dock. He took care of his entire

family and friends and loved to provide getaways whether it was skiing in

Colorado, beach get-always in Belize, or family reunions on Lake Travis in Texas.

Strong friendships were a pride to Ben and he cherished his endless adventures

with Mark Benavides, Marc Cray, Jas Hayden, Brandon Meadows, Jason Davies,

Jon Douglas, Jay Plunkett, and so many more.

Ben is survived by his children Rachel and William of Austin, TX; his fiancé

Rachel Brock of Austin, TX; mother Ginny Robinson of Dallas, TX; father Richard

Robinson of LaJolla, CA; siblings Joe (Melanie) Robinson of Austin, TX; Melissa

(Kevin) Bachman of Wilmington, NC; and Andy Robinson of Dallas, TX; mother of

his children Julie Robinson of Dallas, TX; nieces and nephews Joseph and

Sophia Bachman of Wilmington, NC; and Cole (affectionately called “CT” by his

Uncle Ben) and Hadley Robinson of Austin, TX.

Ben is also survived by his grandmother, Marge Robinson of Naples, FL. He was

also loved by his aunts and uncles; Sally Johnson, Lori (Jim) McCommons, Tom

(Patricia) Johnson, Phil Robinson, Pam (Ron) Clark, Patti (Phil) Jackson, and

Suzanna Robinson. Nancy Brock, mother of Rachel Brock, also called Ben her

“son” and he was lovingly welcomed at all the Brock family celebrations.

Ben will be sorely missed by all of his “Johnson Cousins” at the frequent large

family reunions. These cousins have continued their strong family connections

throughout the years and it will be difficult to replace him on the family softball

team. These cousins are Tammy (Todd) Lange, Traci (Bob) Mowen, Anne

Driewer, Mike Woodward, Erik Cantlon, Amanda (Ulysses) Mireles, and Chris (Amy) Cantlon. The children of each of these cousins also adored Ben as he always seemed, “larger than

life.” In addition he is survived by cousins, Adam Clark, Kyle Clark, Renee Robinson Stromberg and Stephen Robinson, Katy Sole, Kara Valdamanis and Kori Wychikowski.

Dozer, Ben’s constant companion, who he rescued in Belize, is already missing

his master, as well as Loosey. Ben will be greeted in his new heavenly home by

his grandparents Al and Jeanette Johnson and his grandfather, Kenneth William

Robinson. Aunt Judy and Uncle George Woodward will also be welcoming him

with open arms.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the Dallas Memorial on Thursday, May

9, 2019 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrews United Methodist Church 5801 W Plano Pkwy,

Plano, TX 75093 and the Austin area celebration of life on Saturday, May 11,

2019 at 2 pm at 610 Deckhouse Dr, Lago Vista, TX 78645.
