Barbara Franklin Wiggins was born in San Antonio, Texas, February 13, 1930 to Annie (Golde) and Mack E. Franklin. She attended San Antonio public schools, Southern Methodist University, and she graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter N. Wiggins III for 64 wonderful years. She was also predeceased by her parents and a sister. She is survived by two sons, Peter Wiggins IV of Chicago, Phillip Wiggins and wife Donell of Dallas, grandchildren, Davis Wiggins and wife Meredith of Dallas, Ben Wiggins and wife Katerina of Austin, and Annie Anderson and husband Rhett of Dallas, great grandchildren Walker and Peter Wiggins, and nephew Mark Van Order and family, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara was devoted to her faith, family and friends. The last ten years she enjoyed fun times with her dominoes group and bridge groups. She said they were like therapy.
She was a longtime member of St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church, where she had served on the School Board, Altar Guild and other church groups and boards. She was a member of the Dallas Museum of Art, president of the Museum Guild, and had served on the Museum Board. She was a member of the Meadows Museum, the Dallas Symphony, and the Dallas Opera. She was a member of the Dallas Junior League, the Crystal Charity Ball, The Dallas Woman’s Club, The Dallas Garden Club, The Mary K. Craig Class and other civic, religious and cultural boards. She and her husband have been longtime volunteers to Meals on Wheels.
Services will be held at St. Michaels and All Angels Church, 8011 Douglas on Wednesday, September 27th at 4:00 PM.
