Annie Lee Edwards (née Shelton) was born on May 20, 1938 in Homer, Louisiana to the parentage of Mr. Andrew Shelton and Mrs. Lottie B. (Webb) Shelton. She attended public schools in Homer, Louisiana. In 1964, she was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Silas M. Edwards in Dallas, Texas. She worked in social services and home health nursing for many years before fully devoting her life to her family.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She became a member of the New Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where she served in various capacities. She later became a member of the Holy Spirit Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Arlester Shelton, Melvin Shelton, and Willie L. Shelton, all of Dallas; and by her sisters Mildred Brown, Margie Franklin, Maggie Butler, Betty Shelton-Reed, all of Dallas.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a husband, Silas Edwards of Dallas; two sons, Matthew L. Edwards, Sr. and Travis Edwards, both of Dallas; one sister Sylvia Lee Harris and one brother Ira Shelton, both of Dallas; one daughter-in-law, Felicia A. Edwards, of Dallas; six grandchildren, including Dr. Matthew L. Edwards, Jr. of Mountain View, California, Ashley Edwards, of Dallas, LaQuintese Green, Laquynee Edwards, and Bre Thomas, all of Dallas, and Amber Townsend, of Texas City, Texas; a special godsister Cynthia Skinner, of Dallas; and a host great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
